We managed to get in on a special, top shelf bean from India. The importer released a very limited lot of this particular bean, and allowed only ONE bag per customer!Located high up on Merthi Mountain, Badnekhan Estate is blessed both by altitude and ample shade. This, along with extensive use of raised drying beds, is a big reason that their beans have won many Flavour of India/Fine Cup awards (the equivalent to Cup of Excellence elsewhere), including this year’s award for Best Arabica! Bettadakhan is located on the northern slopes of the Baba Budan Giri Hills. This region was named after Baba Budan who, according to legend, smuggled seven coffee seeds out of Yemen in the 1600’s and planted them in India. Even after 400 years, this remains one of the pre-eminent growing districts in India.
